Over 15 years progressive experience in system engineering, scientific research, and innovative technical design. Prior projects include 24x7 on-call engineering support at the highest level of escalation for regional, nationwide, and global corporate network services, including enterprise systems serving 6 million customers; geophysics research at Caltech, using state-of-the-art instrumentation and satellite surveying techniques to study earthquakes; climatology studies at Harvard, using advanced data analysis tools to look for evidence of global climate change; design and development of technology for cutting-edge alternative fueled vehicles; and early design engineering work on a spacecraft headed for Pluto, now the most energetic macroscopic man-made object in the Universe.

Developed and refined mechanical system design of a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery pack, focusing on battery module component design and fabrication, battery pack manufacturing, fault tolerance, and crashworthiness of the energy storage system. Fabricated and delivered the highest energy-density lithium-ion battery pack ever installed in a Toyota Prius. Programming in Perl, generated g-code for calibration and control of Anilam 3300/Chevalier 3-axis CNC vertical mill.

Advanced System Administrator / Senior Engineer

Served as a unix/DHCP specialist on a team of engineers at the highest level of escalation for troubleshooting @Home's broadband IP provisioning infrastructure. Performed emergency maintenance on Solaris production servers, analyzed data from Cisco UBR CMTS (cablemodem headend equipment). Designed and coded a production server monitoring system, daily IP inventory, hourly database status. Contributed to release engineering as a CVS expert, source code control and version management, software builds, dynamically updated production software status. CONNECT INC./SYSTEM SOURCE, Baltimore MD 1996

Computer Consultant / WWW Programmer

Built a website for System Source, a computer hardware/software reseller. Account information system, allowed customers to view up-to-date detailed status reports for all their active orders. Wrote software to generate report files from the internal company database, Perl/CGI web interface allowed customer login and access to current order status.


UNITED STATES GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, Pasadena, CA 1995

Geodetic Measurement Specialist

Designed and installed an automated monitoring system at Pacoima Dam, Los Angeles County, CA. Responsible for scientifically accurate data collection and documentation for several field studies of seismic deformation of the Los Angeles Basin.


PLUTO FAST FLYBY PROJECT, NASA/JPL, Pasadena, CA 1992-1994

Spacecraft Model Designer/Builder

Designed and built full scale spacecraft mockups of the Pluto Fast Flyby Spacecraft based on continually evolving specifications. Primary accountable team member. Served as an engineer and team leader in the construction of full-scale spacecraft models for NASA/JPL's Pluto Fast Flyby project, an early precursor to the New Horizons mission currently near Jupiter on it's way to Pluto.
